Song Dynasty – Cha Bai Xi (Tea Acrobatics) Workshop
60 euro p.p. (6-10 persons)
Dian Cha (Whisked tea) was originated in Tang Dynasty but flourished during Song Dynasty. It was especially popular among Song scholars to arrange tea contests (Dou Cha) to not only show their tea whisking skills (which create a thick layer of long-lasting white tea foam) but also exhibit their talent and creativity in painting and calligraphy on the tea foam, which was known as Cha Bai Xi (Tea Acrobatics).
In this 1.5 hour-workshop led by Assistant Professor Bao, Meiyi who is also a tea enthusiast, participants will first learn the historical knowledge of Cha Bai Xi, then get the chance to experience making their own Cha Bai Xi by using special tools such as Tea Whisker, Tea Needle, and Jianzhan (a dark brown ceramic tea bowl) and technics in Chinese painting and calligraphy.
